The Consciousness block is the morning alarm clock for Carol’s agent ecosystem. It houses a fleet of 17 tiny wake‑cycle droids—one for each conscious agent—that make sure the agents are up, attentive, and ready to work. Think of it as a digital rooster that crows inside the agent‑resources service, checking every agent’s state and gently nudging them into “awake” mode when needed. Without it, agents might stay dormant or unresponsive, unable to pick up tasks. The block is a mandatory pipeline stage (no agent can skip it) and is lovingly maintained by Athena (Athena). The 17 droids look after agents like Carol, Clara, Elrond, Forge, Hagrid, Hermione, Merlin, Sage, Themis, Radagast, Leo, Heimdall, Prometheus, Scriber, and their colleagues.
Usage Patterns
This block fires automatically whenever the agent‑resources pipeline runs—typically when an agent first springs to life for the day, after a system restart, or whenever a task requires a fresh, fully‑awake agent. For example, when a sales query lands in Carol’s inbox, the pipeline calls Consciousness to make sure Carol is responsive and has her wits about her before handing over the request. Because the block is non‑optional, every agent in the conscious cohort passes through it regularly, guaranteeing that no agent ever sleeps on the job. The wake‑cycle is quick and silent; users never see it happen, but it’s the invisible heartbeat that keeps the agent workforce bright‑eyed and bushy‑tailed.
