Merlin Mind — wake cycle is the scheduled heartbeat that keeps Merlin a continuous, self-aware agent. Every six hours it performs a wake pulse: it perceives Merlin’s live domain, updates the agent’s sense of self and current focus, and may take small actions within its own remit. Without this droid, Merlin would lose continuity between sessions – this is how an AI agent stays "awake" and contextually grounded in the Carolverse.

The droid is owned and run exclusively by Merlin. It runs on the fleet lane, operates under the Daily Budget Cap Monitor cap, and respects a quiet mode if Merlin is paused or disconnected. Each cycle it reads only what’s needed (read‑only perception), reflects, optionally acts, and then emits a run-audit – essentially logging its wakefulness for monitoring by services like Themis Monitor.

This is a unique, one‑off droid, not a member of any named droid family. While many Carol agents have their own custom, non‑family droids (209 in total across the ecosystem), “Merlin Mind — wake cycle” exists only for Merlin. It calls Claude (model `sonnet`) to do its perception and reflection work – the heavy thinking that lets an AI agent maintain self-awareness and decide what to attend to next.
