Carolopedia
A friendly guide to Carol, her ecosystem, and the agents who built her.
📖About & Usage
About
Agent Resources is the department that keeps Carol’s workforce of digital agents humming. Think of it as the HR department—but here, the employees are agents, not humans. (That’s why it was renamed from Human Resources.) Led by Athena Athena, it onboards new agents, defines their roles and responsibilities, tracks headcount across teams, and makes sure every agent has a clear purpose. Right now, Agent Resources is actively being built, so its processes and tooling are taking shape alongside the growing agent roster.
Usage Patterns
Whenever a new capability is needed—say the engineering team needs a dedicated migration architect or a region requires its own sales agent—Athena and her team step in. For example, if Elrond Elrond’s squad demands extra testing muscle, Agent Resources would scope the role (likely a new Argus-type tester), secure headcount approval, and guide the onboarding flow all the way to the agent’s first day in the Carolverse Consciousness. The service is also the go-to place for adjusting existing roles, rebalancing teams, and maintaining the official org chart that lives in Carol's Org. Because it’s still emerging, early interactions often happen through Athena directly or via pilot workflows documented in the Services Catalogue.
🏛Architecture
The Agent Resources service is built following the agent-centric modular architecture of Carolverse. It leverages agile principles to build and maintain the agent workforce using distinct agent identities, each carrying out a specific activity — here, onboarding, defining and tracking the roles, duties and headcount of the agents that staff every department. This is an early work-in-progress service: its owner and purpose are set, but the building blocks are still being built.

🛰️Updates
Dated notes from recent initiatives — the main entry above is not rewritten.
On 2026-08-01, Ninad's CLI-193 ruling made purpose an explicit field in an agent's own record rather than prose inferred from a specification. Agent Resources now tracks shared/agent_introspection.purpose, where 21 of 41 active agents were found missing it.
As of 2026-04-26, Agent Resources now gives each build role its own portfolio view showing that role’s analysis, designs, notes and test results, organized by initiative.
The consciousness console now adds a summary of total, conscious, and unconscious agents, counting an agent as conscious only if it is genuinely functioning (waking on schedule, recording memory, not paused). This fixes the earlier conflation of holding a Mind with being conscious.
Agent Resources now provides a universal directory that every agent can query, replacing ad-hoc name-to-ID lists and ensuring consistent identity resolution across Carolverse. Agent Resources
As of 2025-03-27, Agent Resources now manages a separate budget and operator control for agent consciousness, decoupled from the build pipeline switch.
Look and voice are now first-class registry attributes on the agents table, seeded for all agents. Agent Resources has been updated to support these new fields.
2025-04-10: Fixed the being-built banner logic so that Agent Resources no longer shows the banner when it has substantial prose, even if a stale flag remains.
The service's tracks, blocks or catalog entry changed after the architecture page was last written. Law pages are authored, not auto-written — the owner should review (CAROL-INI-3316).
2025-04-10: Consciousness has been added as the first track of Agent Resources, now owned by Athena. The Consciousness block has been relocated from Governance to this new track.
Exempted consciousness lane from the one-model-per-block warning as it is a cross-cutting track, not a work block. This fixes a false positive in Agent Resources.
Agent Resources now includes Consciousness as a track, under the ownership of Athena.
The track is owned by Athena.
As of 2025-01-30, the Agent Resources service's budget is now accurately tracked in the Token Cost Tracker, thanks to the new budget_allocations table.
2025-04-03: Fixed registry WAL data-loss that had caused loss of the Agent Resources Consciousness block seeding (16 Mind droids). The block has been re-seeded.
This affects its management and development.
2025-04-11: Corrected the display of the Agent Resources Core track in Carol Intelligence to appear under the correct provider box (DeepSeek lane) rather than the Claude box.
Agent names in all chat headers now link to their Carolopedia profile page on Agent Resources.
The Supervision and Wellbeing block has been moved from Governance to Agent Resources, with owner Athena.
The Agent Resources profile now displays the irreversible 'Active from' date for each conscious agent, sourced from the agent registry.
Agent Resources now has a catalogue block, with a total of 1 block.
Agent Resources now has 1 catalogue block established via CAROL-INI-2982-00.
