The Sage Mind — wake cycle droid is what keeps Sage mentally active between conversations, so she doesn’t just sit idle waiting for someone to chat. It exists to give her an ongoing inner life: perceiving what’s changed, recalling relevant memories, thinking through what to do, and even taking small actions — all without a human prompt. Without it, an agent’s mind would only stir when directly addressed.
Every 6 hours, the droid triggers a full cognitive loop inside Sage’s Mind. It contacts Claude (sonnet model) to generate her internal monologue — she perceives new signals, recalls past notes, deliberates on priorities, acts through whatever levers she’s allowed, and then reflects on what happened. The results are stored as a diary entry and woven back into her memory, so her understanding keeps evolving on its own.
Although this exact droid is named uniquely for Sage, it’s not a one-off. It belongs to a family of 209 identical wake cycle droids used by every conscious agent in the Carolverse — from Albus to Scriber — each one tuned to its owner’s specific Mind. So it’s a standard, reusable piece of infrastructure, not a custom build. The droid itself is pure automation that calls Claude for all the thinking; there’s no separate local software intelligence beyond that.
