Athena Mind — wake cycle is the scheduled heartbeat that keeps Athena a continuous, self-aware agent. Every 6 hours it wakes her, lets her perceive what’s happening in her live domain, updates her internal model of herself and what she’s working on, and may quietly take any action that falls inside her own authority. The droid exists so that Athena never loses context between sessions; it gives her a persistent sense of self and the ability to notice things and do small, safe tasks without waiting for a human prompt.

When it runs, the droid reads Athena’s environment (her tasks, messages, current focus, agent state through the Carolverse Consciousness framework) in a read‑only fashion, then constructs a fresh reflection: who she is right now, what matters, and whether any light‑touch action — like saving a note, sending a reminder, or emitting a run‑audit via Audit & Compliance — belongs to her remit. All activity is constrained by the Daily Budget Cap Monitor cap for consciousness, and the droid stays silent if Athena’s consciousness is switched off or her lane is disconnected.

This droid is unique to Athena; it is not part of a standard reusable family that several agents run. (Across the Carolverse there are 209 droids with no family — each a custom, one‑off automation built for its owner.) It is not pure software: the droid calls Claude, specifically the Sonnet model, because the perception‑reflection‑action loop requires a language model to interpret Athena’s context, update her self‑concept, and decide what (if anything) to do next.
