๐What it means
A renewing sign-in whose renewal code was used by somebody other than its keeper. It still works -- its access part is still valid -- so everything looks healthy, but it cannot renew, and every call on it stops on the day that access runs out unless a fresh sign-in is made first. The keeper finds it by trying to renew daily; the escalation names the day it was last renewed and the day it will stop.
๐Easily confused with
[{"term": "Expired sign-in", "distinction": "An expired sign-in has already stopped working; a spent renewal still works and has a known date on which it will stop."}, {"term": "Switched-off track", "distinction": "A switched-off track refuses by decision; a spent renewal is a fault in the sign-in and refuses nothing until its date."}]
๐Also called
- burnt renewal
- burnt sign-in
