📖What it means

What happens when the first choice is unavailable. A fallback must be VISIBLE: a ringfenced role whose lane is down gets a stated refusal, never a quiet switch to somebody else's budget.

📖Easily confused with

[{"term": "Refusal", "distinction": "A fallback carries on another way; a refusal stops and says so."}, {"term": "Retry", "distinction": "A fallback changes the route; a retry repeats the same one."}]

📖Also called

- failover
- second choice
- backup path
