Watcher

Concept a word Carolverse uses with a precise meaning

๐Ÿ“–What it means

An agent whose job is to DETECT problems and REQUEST fixes โ€” never to fix them itself. On detecting an issue (a stuck or failed scheduled process, a security breach, a failing test) a watcher files an initiative as the requester, putting the problem into the self-healing loop. Examples: the Process Monitor (Daily Process Sweep) for scheduled-process health; Guardian's Watchman for security and integrity; Argus (Tester) for defects. A watcher is accountable for detection and raising the request, not for remediation โ€” which belongs to a Healer.

โš–๏ธWhat it is NOT

The neighbours this word is most often confused with, and the line between them.

Not: Healer

A watcher DETECTS and requests a fix; a healer performs the fix. A watcher that repairs something has broken its own contract.

Not: Gate

A watcher raises an alert after the fact; a gate refuses the transition at the moment it is attempted.

๐ŸงญThe nuance

Carol: the Process Monitor (agt_016) and Guardian's Watchman are watchers; they file initiatives as the requester.
