📖About & Usage

About

Admin Monitor is the friendly backstage pass for those who keep Carol’s ecosystem humming. It tracks and displays visit logs — essentially, a record of who peeked at which app and when — across several key destinations: Carol Apps, BB Apps, Carol Bio, and Carolopedia. Only administrators like Orion (the Deputy Admin who maintains this tool) can access it, because the data is strictly for behind‑the‑scenes housekeeping, not for public browsing. Think of it as a visitor’s book that only the innkeeper can read, giving a quick pulse on what’s most popular or when something might need a closer look.

The monitor doesn’t interfere with anyone’s experience; it simply collects lightweight traffic snapshots so admins can spot patterns, ensure everything is running smoothly, and debug any unexpected drops or spikes. It lives quietly at a private port, serving only those with the highest clearance, and is a small but vital part of Carol’s self‑awareness.

Usage Patterns

An admin typically opens the Admin Monitor when they need a high‑level view of activity or when investigating a specific hitch. For instance, after a new Carolopedia article goes live, Orion might visit the monitor to see if the fresh content is drawing readers — a quick glance confirms a surge in visits to that article’s page, reassuring the team that the work landed. Conversely, if someone reports that Carol Bio seems sluggish, the logs can reveal whether a traffic spike is to blame.

The tool fires on demand; it doesn’t automatically alert anyone, but instead waits for an admin to drop by and check the numbers. It’s most useful during routine daily checks, post‑deployment reviews, or whenever curiosity about the ecosystem’s pulse strikes. Because it’s strictly admin‑only, the logs stay confidential, making it a safe space to observe without affecting the very thing you’re measuring.

🛰️Updates

Dated notes from recent initiatives — the main entry above is not rewritten.

Change2026-07-30

Admin actions are now delegated to Radagast, altering how the admin monitor tracks them. The bypass lane now handles its own non-admin edits and logs the actual resolved model for cost tracking.

Fix2026-07-27

The stale comparison-table label alias from retired VM Metrics has been removed from Admin Monitor, resolving a dead reference.

Fix2026-07-25
Change2026-07-24

Admin Monitor now has unrestricted access to all agents by default under the new role-based access system, replacing per-chat login/sign-out.

Change2026-07-24

Agent mapping has been folded into Heimdall's User Management app, removing the standalone agent-map page from the Access Mgmt app. The all-users list now includes a 'Mapped agents' column, and the user detail page has an inline editor for assigning/revoking agents.

Correction2026-07-12

Ran Admin Monitor through Sage's enforced app conventions; failed on topbar, header, tap targets, card grid density, and had partial passes on status pills and accessibility. Needs fixes per Sage.

Fix2026-07-04

Admin Monitor's Admin Monitor uniform bar colour on the Total visit time chart was unblocked and retriggered to succeed thanks to RSI diagnosis (RSI Diagnosis).

Change2026-07-04

Admin Monitor now highlights the selected day bar in a darker blue when clicked, making the selection visually obvious. This update applies to the Total visit time per day chart in Admin Monitor.

Change2026-07-04

The Total visit time per day chart in Admin Monitor now uses a uniform blue colour for all per-visitor stacked segments, making each day's bar appear solid while retaining stacking and click drill-down functionality.

Fix2026-06-27

Improved visit duration tracking and unique-visitor deduplication in admin statistics. Implements heartbeat-based measurement with persistent visitor_id cookies, providing reliable metrics and accurate unique-visitor counts separate from total page views.

Fix2026-06-27

Admin Stats listing now auto-refreshes when page filter changes and features a persistent fixed-height scrollable box for improved navigation.

Fix2026-06-26

The Stats tab day bar click behavior is now a toggle: selecting a day bar again deselects it and hides the visitor listing, rather than re-rendering the same view.
