The Scriber Investigator is a read-only root-cause droid owned by Scriber. It exists so Scriber's Logbook stories are grounded in what actually happened: when a stuck planner initiative gets a misleading surface label like "albus_no_show" or "no_root_cause", this droid digs through code and logs to find the first real blocking cause before the Author writes anything.
It works by investigating the stuck initiative read-only, ignoring the self-heal loop's own chatter, and returning a grounded finding. It never edits anything — it only reads, greps, and globs — and it fails open: if it finds no clear cause, the story simply composes from the raw brief. It runs on a trigger rather than on a schedule.
Its name is unique, so there is only one Scriber Investigator. It does not belong to a reusable droid family; the registry groups it among 222 un-familied droids, but those are not a shared family that other agents run. It is pure software and makes no Claude calls.
