Step Spec Author is a triggered droid that writes the per-step specification before Forge builds that step. It exists to make sure every build step starts from a clear, current specification instead of being improvised during construction.

It is owned by Sage, and it runs when triggered rather than on a fixed schedule. The droid calls Claude (model haiku) to generate the step specification, then hands that output forward so the build work can follow it.

This droid is not part of a named reusable family, and its exact name "Step Spec Author" is unique. It is grouped in the roster among 222 droids in the "(none)" family that other agents also run, but as an instance it is a one-off. It is not pure software: it relies on Claude haiku for the actual spec-authoring work.
