Codex Lane Keeper is a scheduled droid owned by Radagast. Its job is to keep the shared ChatGPT credential for the Agent Chat agent-chat lane fresh. The lane runs on one shared codex home whose token expires roughly every ten days; if the refresh is missed, the lane goes silently mute. The keeper probes through the app process inside the 72-hour refresh window so the refresh always happens under the app user — never under caroladmin, since a foreign-owned scratch under that identity once broke the lane.

Each morning at 05:10 it reads the token horizon. When it is inside the refresh window, it sends exactly one probe message, explicitly marked as a keeper probe, through the app process and checks the reply. It records every run in its run audit and fails loudly if the probe comes back with a lane error. Its daily schedule is tracked in the Scheduled Processes app.

The name "Codex Lane Keeper" is unique, though it belongs to the (none) family recorded in Droid Families, which 222 droids across many Carol agents run. Its execution engine isn't recorded yet, so it is not yet known whether it is pure software or calls Claude.
