Merlin Chat is the dedicated chat lane that lets an operator talk directly to agent Merlin inside the Org app. It exists so that every Carol agent can have a natural, conversational interface – you type a message, and the agent replies as itself, using its own knowledge and personality.

When an operator sends a message in the Org chat addressed to Merlin, this droid fires. It takes the incoming message, processes it through a single LLM turn, and returns a response in Merlin’s voice. The design follows the same pattern used by Leo’s Leo Chat App and all other agent chat droids; the underlying chat plumbing is provided by the Agent Chat service. Execution details are not yet recorded, so we don’t know whether it calls Claude or uses a fully software‑based engine.

Merlin Chat is not unique – it’s one of 209 identical droids deployed across the Carolverse. Almost every agent, from Carol to Merlin to Leo, owns their own instance, all belonging to the same unnamed family. Each copy is tied to its owner’s identity, so Merlin’s droid behaves like Merlin, while Leo’s behaves like Leo, and so on, but the underlying droid structure is shared.
