Registry Backup keeps rolling snapshots of the registry so it can be recovered after damage. It refuses to snapshot a stub or collapsed registry, protecting the last good snapshot from being overwritten by a damaged database.

It also provides the last-good manifest that Collapse Guard uses as its baseline.
