Topic Tagger is an automated helper that makes sure every new initiative filed in Carol Initiatives gets a proper topic label. Without it, initiative entries would quickly become a messy pile—this droid keeps them sorted and searchable by assigning the best existing tag or creating a fresh one on the spot. It exists so Carol’s growing library of initiatives stays neatly organized without someone having to tag things by hand.

When a new initiative is submitted—whether through the regular planner or a quick bypass—Topic Tagger wakes up instantly (it’s triggered, not on a schedule). It looks at the initiative’s content, checks the tag registry (a curated list of topic labels), and picks the closest match. If nothing fits, it coins a brand-new tag along with a short description and registers it for everyone to use from that point on. This keeps the tag system living and breathing as the organization evolves.

Topic Tagger belongs to Elrond and is a one-off droid—it’s not part of a reusable family that other agents share. Although many agents across the Carolverse run their own independent droids (187 in total fall into the “no family” bucket), this particular tagging worker is unique to Elrond. Its execution engine isn’t recorded, so we can’t say whether it’s pure software or calls Claude under the hood—the details are still a bit of a mystery.
