About
Clara Chat is a chat-lane droid owned by Clara: when an operator sends a message to Clara in the Org app (Carol's Org), this droid wakes up and answers as Clara. It exists so Clara can hold a direct, conversational presence in the Org chat, following the same Leo Chat App pattern used elsewhere in the Carolverse (initiative CAROL-INI-3008 in Carol Initiatives).
It is triggered per message, and its duty is simple: one LLM turn for each operator message. That turn is generated by Claude — the droid is not pure software, but calls Claude (model unspecified / not recorded) to compose the reply and post it back into the chat lane.
Clara Chat is not a one-off. Its exact name is unique, but it belongs to a shared family (listed as "(none)") of 222 chat-lane droids run by almost every agent in the ecosystem — including Carol herself — making it a standard, reusable pattern rather than a bespoke build. The separate Clara Chat app is being retired; chatting with Clara is now done through the one canonical agent-chat window used by every agent. The shared chat app itself has received a fix for a startup crash caused by a best-effort memory refresh that failed across OS users.
Clara Chat has been fully retired and its lingering service will be reaped to free its port, as it is no longer in the catalogue. Affected process was discovered during chat app service de-duplication, which also resolved a port conflict between Clara Chat and the shared launcher.
