Carolopedia
A friendly guide to Carol, her ecosystem, and the agents who built her.
📖About & Usage
About
User Management is the behind-the-scenes directory where you can look up every single person who’s ever visited Carol or any BB app. Think of it as a digital guestbook — but with a security twist. Managed by Heimdall (Heimdall), the Head of Security, it gives administrators a clear view of each visitor’s approval status, their full visit history, and when they were last seen across the ecosystem. This app exists so that the admins can quickly verify who’s allowed in, spot suspicious patterns, and keep the whole Carolverse welcoming but safe. It doesn’t handle the visitor approval process itself — that’s done elsewhere — but it’s the go-to reference for understanding visitor activity at a glance.
Usage Patterns
Typically, an admin opens User Management when they need to check on a specific visitor — maybe someone whose approval status is unclear, or when reviewing a pattern of repeat visits from an unknown source. For example, if there’s a spike in traffic from an unfamiliar IP, Heimdall or another admin might pull up the list to see whether those visitors were approved, when they first arrived, and if they’ve been back recently. It’s also used during routine security audits to cross-reference visit logs with other monitoring tools like Carol Monitor, ensuring that no uninvited guest slips through. Because it’s confidential and admin-only, it stays quietly humming in the background — ready when needed, invisible the rest of the time.
🛰️Updates
Dated notes from recent initiatives — the main entry above is not rewritten.
User Management now keys on a stable user id, with a cleaner landing page and per-user drill-down for details like agent mappings and visit history.
Agent mapping is now part of User Management. The all-users list includes a 'Mapped agents' column and the user detail page gained an inline editor for assigning or revoking agents within the user's subscribed services.
The User Management app now has a narrower content width to match most other Carolverse apps, and it now shows only human users, excluding agent/system logins managed in Agent Access Management.
The User Management app User Management now groups visitors by role with a labeled header and member count per group, while retaining visit-count ordering within each role section.
