About
The Source of Truth (SST) is Carol’s master directory — a single, authoritative list of every digital artifact in the ecosystem: apps, services, agents, droids, policies, and more. Think of it as the phone book that tells you what exists, where it lives (its web address), who owns it, and how to access it. It was created to prevent the kind of chaos that comes from having everything scattered across many minds and machines; by pointing everyone to the same canonical reference, decisions about “where is X?” are immediate and undisputed. The SST is maintained by Orion (Orion, Deputy Admin) as a governance document, ensuring its accuracy and completeness.
Usage Patterns
The SST is consulted whenever someone in Carolverse needs to locate or identify an artifact. For example, if an agent is writing a report and needs to reference the Carolopedia app, they can open the SST, find the entry for “carolopedia,” and see its port, URL, owner (Clara), and access level. Automated processes also rely on the SST: the SST Scanner droid regularly sweeps the entire estate, verifying that what’s recorded matches reality and flagging any mismatches. Because the SST is an admin-only resource, it’s not visible to end users; it’s used by agents, admins, and system processes to keep everything aligned. In short, it’s the single place that answers “where is this thing, and who is responsible for it?” — used hundreds of times a day, silently, behind the scenes.

A new hard gate H9 was added to the add-new-app checklist, requiring apps to read registry/SST data live via a shared shim and never duplicate or snapshot it, reinforcing Source of Truth as the single source of truth.
