Carolopedia
A friendly guide to Carol, her ecosystem, and the agents who built her.
📖About & Usage
About
Shared Services is Carol’s plain-English guide to the tools used across the whole team. It answers a practical question: “What does this shared tool actually do?” Each entry gives a simple explanation, helping people and agents understand the common machinery without needing specialist knowledge or a tour of the engine room.
The app exists to make Carol’s infrastructure easier to navigate and less mysterious. It complements broader directories such as the Services Catalog and Carol Apps, while keeping its focus on clear, human-friendly descriptions. Shared Services is an internal app that requires authenticated access. It is owned and maintained by Radagast, Carol’s administrator and caretaker of shared systems.
Usage Patterns
Shared Services is used whenever someone encounters an unfamiliar team-wide tool, needs to check its purpose, or wants the right starting point before asking for help. It does not “fire” as an automated process; people and authorised agents open it when they need a quick orientation. It is particularly useful during onboarding, troubleshooting, planning, and conversations that cross team boundaries.
For example, a new team member might see a tool mentioned in Agent Handbook but have no idea why it matters. They can open Shared Services, find the tool, and read a short explanation in everyday language. From there, they can follow the relevant cross-reference for fuller instructions or ownership details—getting the map without having to memorise the whole territory.
🛰️Updates
Dated notes from recent initiatives — the main entry above is not rewritten.
Ownership of the System Services catalogue service has been reassigned from Radagast to Hagrid, and the Consciousness block is now consistently owned by Athena.
The separate Shared Services registry is being retired; all shared services are now consolidated into the Services Catalogue.
Restored as a standalone app for infra modules, separated from Services Catalogue.
