📖About & Usage
About
Semantic Memory is Carol’s personal, locked‑up diary of everything she can remember. It is not a public noticeboard — only Carol and her direct reporting line may ask it a question. Inside, it quietly keeps a list of all the information sources Carol draws on: how much she knows from each one, and the exact time that knowledge was last refreshed. Think of it as the memory chip behind Carol’s brain: without it, she couldn’t recall a customer’s previous chat, a product detail, or a compliance rule.
Because it is confidential, Semantic Memory sits behind walls that the rest of Carolverse cannot cross. It powers Carol’s ability to give consistent, well‑grounded answers by letting her instantly check what she holds and how fresh it is — so she never accidentally answers from a stale note.
Usage Patterns
Semantic Memory fires silently whenever Carol needs to answer a question. Say a European shopper asks about returns: Carol first glances into Semantic Memory to see which policies and product specs she currently carries, how complete those records are, and whether they were topped up this morning or a week ago. Only then does she decide whether she can answer straight away or must fetch fresher data first.
This lookup is invisible to the user — it’s a backend service that Carol’s conversational engine consults in the blink of an eye. Any other app or agent that pokes at Semantic Memory directly gets a polite refusal; only Carol’s own line‑of‑sight is allowed in. That tight access keeps Carol’s memory clean and ensures every remembered fact carries an honest freshness sticker.
