📖About & Usage
About
Migration Cookbook is Carol’s practical rulebook for moving systems, services, or ways of working from one setup to another. It exists to make migrations predictable: everyone involved can follow the same operational law—the agreed rules and working practices that govern how migration work is carried out. The app belongs to Carol’s transformation group and is owned by Thorin, Thorin, the Migration Manager.
Created on 21 May 2026, Migration Cookbook is a private, sign-in-only app rather than a public guide. It complements the planning view in Migration Roadmap and the broader direction provided by Noah, Noah, and Gimli, Gimli. In short, the roadmap shows where migration work is going; the cookbook helps people carry it out consistently.
Usage Patterns
Migration Cookbook is used when a migration is being prepared, performed, reviewed, or handed over. It does not need to “fire” like an automatic alert. Instead, authorised people and agents consult it whenever they need the accepted way to handle migration work, especially before making decisions that could affect several services or teams.
For example, suppose a Carol service is moving to a new operating setup. Thorin and the migration team can use Migration Roadmap to understand the work’s place on the roadmap, then consult Migration Cookbook for the applicable working rules. This gives developers, testers, and operators a shared playbook, reducing improvisation and making reviews easier. If the migration exposes a wider engineering or governance question, the team can involve the relevant Carol leaders rather than quietly inventing a new rule.
