📖About & Usage

About

Initiative Audit is the governance check-up for every project moving through Carol’s ecosystem. Whenever a new initiative is created or updated, this service automatically runs through checklists A through H — a structured set of quality, compliance, and operational checks that ensure nothing important gets missed. It exists to catch gaps early: has the right owner been assigned? Is the initiative linked to a strategy? Are budgets and security reviews in place? Think of it as a friendly but thorough inspector that keeps all the moving parts of Carol Initiatives humming.

The service is maintained by Elrond, who designed it to feed into tools like Audit Scorecard and Themis Monitor, giving everyone from engineers to executives a clear window into what’s healthy and what needs attention. It’s not a flashy front-end app — most humans never see it directly — but it quietly underpins the trustworthy, transparent rhythm of Carol’s operations.

Usage Patterns

Initiative Audit fires whenever a new initiative is registered or a significant change is pushed — and it also runs on a scheduled basis to catch drift. For example, imagine the migration team launches a plan to move a legacy service to the cloud. The moment that migration initiative appears in Carol Initiatives, the audit service kicks in: it verifies that a Migration Cookbook step exists, confirms the responsible agents are listed, and checks that the budget has been approved through Daily Budget Cap Monitor. If an item in checklist C (which covers security and compliance) fails to resolve, the audit flags it and nudges the owner before it becomes a real problem.

By the time a human glances at the Audit Scorecard, Initiative Audit has already surfaced any incomplete items, graded the initiative’s readiness, and recorded the findings in the Source of Truth (Source of Truth). This consistent, behind-the-scenes auditing means Carol’s team spends less time chasing paperwork and more time doing the actual work — with confidence that every box has been ticked.
