Data Dictionary

App The dictionary of Carolverse: what every WORD means — its plain-language definition, the synonyms that mean the same thing, and the near-miss terms that sound similar but mean something else (droid vs daemon, service vs system service, review vs audit). A term is defined once, in the registry glossary_terms table, and the Source of Truth's Concepts cards render from it. For what a NUMBER on an app surface means, see the App Handbook.

📖About & Usage

About

Data Dictionary is Carol’s shared vocabulary guide: the place to check what a word means across the Carolverse. It exists so people and AI agents use important terms consistently—and do not accidentally treat near-misses such as droid and daemon, service and system service, or review and audit as interchangeable. Each entry can include a plain-English definition, accepted synonyms, and closely related terms that mean something different.

A term is defined once in the registry’s glossary_terms table—the central list where glossary entries are stored—and then displayed on the Concepts cards in Source of Truth, the Source of Truth. This makes Data Dictionary the reference for words; explanations of what a number or metric on an app screen means belong in the App Handbook. The app is an internal, sign-in-required governance tool owned by Clara, Clara.

Usage Patterns

Data Dictionary is used whenever someone writes, reviews, designs, or interprets Carolverse material and needs to confirm the intended language. It may be consulted while drafting requirements, documenting an app, checking a process, or resolving a disagreement caused by two similar-sounding terms. Other apps can also reuse its centrally maintained definitions instead of creating separate explanations.

For example, suppose a Concepts card in Source of Truth calls something a system service, while a reader assumes that simply means any service. They can open Data Dictionary, compare the definitions and near-miss notes, and see the intended distinction. If the approved wording later changes, the glossary entry is updated at its single source, allowing the Concepts card to reflect the same meaning rather than drifting into a second version.
