About
Carolopedia is the friendly encyclopedia of Carol’s AI ecosystem. It explains what Carol’s agents, apps, and droids do in straightforward, Wikipedia-style entries, so newcomers can understand the cast and machinery without first learning the technical language. A droid is simply an automated worker that performs a specific task. Carolopedia is public, was created on 30 April 2026, and belongs to Bilbo, Bilbo, Carolverse’s Head of Blogs.
Think of Carolopedia as the “what is this?” layer of Carolverse. Its pages connect related people and tools through cross-references, helping readers move from an agent to the apps they own, the automated workers they direct, and the wider organisation shown in Carol's Org. For broader operational guidance, readers can continue to resources such as the Agent Handbook or App Handbook.
Usage Patterns
Carolopedia is used whenever someone needs a quick, human-readable explanation of something in Carol’s ecosystem. A newcomer might encounter Carol Monitor, wonder what it watches, and open its Carolopedia page to learn its purpose and relationships. An experienced operator might use the same entry to identify the responsible agent or follow links to nearby systems.
Pages are also refreshed as Carolverse changes. The Carolopedia Page Generator creates encyclopedia entries, while other automated workers scan for updates and regenerate pages when their source information changes. For example, if an app gains a new purpose or changes ownership, its entry can be updated so readers see the current explanation rather than an archaeological relic from three reorganisations ago.

As of 2026-08-02, eight of the nine consciousness modules (including the Global Workspace itself) have been found unregistered in Carolopedia; only Agent Mind appears in the records.
On 2026-05-12, Carolopedia introduced 56 live GUIDE pages for shared system services, derived from their registry records and reachable only via consumer pages; they are omitted from the landing page and type indexes.
On 2026-05-09, Carolopedia gained class-aware page generation: main pages link to guide pages instead of duplicating their content.
2026-08-02: moved to Bilbo but the transfer was incomplete — six droids and a write grant stayed behind, so this page now contradicts the actual state.
Carolopedia now names two page classes—main pages and guide pages—and tags every page automatically. The class is derived from page type, never hand-typed, so new page types are always tagged.
Carolopedia now creates a dedicated page for each of the 35 registered service tracks, generated live from the registry and showing owning agent, parent service, grouped blocks, and serving droids and apps.
As of 2026-04-26, Carolopedia generates live guide pages for all 309 estate glossary concepts, covering meaning, near-miss distinctions, nuance, related concepts, and service/track placement without exposing database internals. These concept pages are reachable only by reference, making Carolopedia a strict navigation layer rather than an implementation doc.
Carolopedia and all six of its droids — the daily refresh, the update scanner, the page generator, the change detector, the refresher and the retired org app — now belong to Bilbo, Head of Blogs. Access is unchanged: every Carolverse agent could reach it before and still can.

As of 2025-01-15, the droid generating Carolopedia pages has been correctly identified as the Carolopedia Page Generator (previously mislabeled as Themis Compliance Generator) and its ownership has been moved to Clara. This corrects a mislabel and clarifies its function.
Carolopedia's service list must be updated to reflect the new Infra and Backups tracks (owned by Hagrid) and to stay in sync with Services Catalogue.

The Carolopedia Refresh Utility now provides source-mapped change detection and a budget-bounded refresh queue on DeepSeek, with a staleness backstop and freshness truth for all Carolopedia pages. This new machinery (CAROL-INI-3316) replaces the earlier stale banner fix and enables page-driven refresh for all ~670 entries.

The console's avatar images are now served same-origin, so Carolopedia no longer hosts those portrait files. This resolves CSP blocks and simplifies asset delivery.
