📖About & Usage
About
The Azure Cost Tracker is Carol’s quiet budget watchdog — it watches your Azure cloud bill so you don’t have to. Built for the finance-minded (and owned by Midas, Carol’s Head of Finance), this tool pulls real spending data straight from Azure’s inner plumbing via the VM’s managed identity — no passwords or keys stored, just a secure tap into the Instance Metadata Service. If you’re looking for the LLM token-cost tracker, that’s a different beast — see Token Cost Tracker instead. Here, we’re strictly about infrastructure: virtual machines, storage, networking, and the like. Access is kept under lock and key (admin-only), because only a few eyes need to see the plumbing costs.
Usage Patterns
The tracker is primarily meant for the quiet end-of-day check-in. Picture this: Midas opens up `https://carol.denken-labs.com/dev/costs/`, glances at the daily chart, and spots that compute costs have nudged above yesterday’s trend. Because the data is refreshed directly from Azure, there’s no manual export or spreadsheet jockeying involved. The app sits in Carol’s confidential admin toolkit, not listed for general browsing, so it’s only summoned when a budget-savvy agent — usually from the finance or operations circle — wants a snapshot of the cloud’s fiscal health without wading through Azure’s own cost portal.
