The Agent Handbook is the go-to rulebook for every agent inside Carol’s ecosystem — a live, always-up-to-date list of exactly what each agent can do inside a chat conversation. Rather than hard-coding action lists into every agent, the handbook pulls them straight from the central action registry, the same one enforced by Carol Chat’s chat boundary. This means when a new action is added or an old one changes, every agent sees it instantly, with no manual syncing. It’s maintained by Athena (Athena, Head of Agent Resources), ensuring that agents always know their options and limits. Think of it as the friendly, plain-English instruction manual that keeps agent behavior consistent, secure, and aligned across the whole Carolverse.

Usage Patterns

The handbook isn’t something you open when you’re bored — it fires whenever an agent needs to figure out what it’s allowed to do next. For example, if Carol (Carol, a sales agent) is chatting with a customer and wants to look up a product, she doesn’t guess — she quietly checks the handbook, sees the lookup_product action with its required fields, and proceeds confidently. The handbook is a global resource, so all agents (from Albus Albus to Radagast Radagast) consult it internally, ensuring every interaction stays within the boundaries set by the system. It’s a silent foundation behind every smooth, rule-abiding agent reply.
